About Me

My name is Lorel Hartley. I am married and have three children born 2007, 2010, & 2013. My professional career started in 2005 with my BA degree in Finance and Marketing. I stayed in this work 3 years after my first child was born.

My interest in birth ignited when I was pregnant with my second baby 2009/2010. I was planning a home birth and became very passionate about pregnancy and the birth process. I was laid off from my job in 2010 which pushed me to consider birth work more seriously.

At first I helped friends, and then became certified by Childbirth International in 2012 offering my service to the community. In 2013 I was certified through Hypnobabies as a Hypno-Doula, and in 2015 I became certified through Hypnobirthing.

On September 21st, 2010 I opened Nurturing Notions on Etsy. My offering has evolved over the years. I first started offering items like cloth diapers and mama cloth, and now offer a selection of items both hand dyed and constructed by me.

Starting in 2015 I started helping to coordinate events for Better Babywearing of Broward. We try to meet weekly and aim to offer non-instructional support for those wanting to enjoy babywearing with others who understand and share the same passion.
